The Choice '08

Yes its just around the corner the big election that some describe as one that shapes the world and its hard to argue with that. Yes the New Zealand election is coming up and its between Helen Clarke and some other man and based on Helen's performance (based on the odds at centrebet) I'm surprised that her teeth haven't defected from her mouth and run as an independent. I mean sure she supports the All Blacks but do her teeth have to show their colours. The other one is the US election and it is has some similarities with understeer F1. A tale of two, one a former POW (David Hicks) and the other, somebody who uses the latin alphabet to spell their name (The Webbernator). The Webbernator has been the sensation of the championship and what is interesting is I make out that both these two teams have been the leader overall 8 rounds a piece while Lewis'll Hammer'em is the only other team to be at the top which happened after the first round. So who will take out the prize and will they finish on equal points?  more...

How The Hell Has Nelson Piquet Got An F1 Drive feat. The Flavio Briatore Dancers

By: Gladious Fermingo

I arrived into Chris Munce International Airport on the Thursday night before the big race. Anybody who has ever been to this airport in Singapore knows the only decent thing about the place is the massive travelator things. Once I remember sitting on the floor of the airport watching these things go and thinking if only the world was one big travelator, things would be so more productive. I was fairly jet-lagged by then. It seems the biggest issue with this brand new Singapore night race was whether to stay in “Europe time” or try and acclimatise to the local time. I decided to stay in “Aussie time” which meant I turned up hung-over and 1 hour late to every event for the weekend.  more...

VETTELICAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

Coming into the Italian GP hot off the sensation that was the Belgium GP (a race that Gladious now treats the same way that Martin treats Hungaroring - he doesn't show up) I was expecting both Raikkonen and Hamilton to both be battling for the lead once again with Massa just behind but the turn in the weather especially in qualifying turned it into an unknown. With a Toro Rosso on pole, if it was earlier in the year you might think it was a reverse grid but during the race Vettel proved his metal by staying settled and keeping the pedal to the metal in a gold medal performance that beat Kovalianen, Kubica et al if he keeps it up he could have a Sarah Palin type figurine by Mattel and I bet Al Bundy that on the same weekend that Metallica released their new album...I'm stretching it now.  more...

Europe GP as good as Europe SesameBar?

By: Daryl Beattie

...send them another letter because I've already told them that Max should be given a dishonourable discharge since Max was good enough to give the women one. I assume one at his age, and was it mentioned that his father led the second most hated political party in British history after the Scottish Prohibition party. Well he did and this whole thing explains why Max doesn't go to that many GP's, mainly because the tyre changes would get him frothing all over (watch a pit stop to know what I mean) but I have to admire Max's courage in having an orgy its not my thing I would imagine its like public speaking, failure with an audience.

I think that is enough about Max for a while. The race that was just run was the European GP and last year it was run at the Nurburgring where Alonso and Massa got into some hard racing for the lead in the dying stages of the wet race and was followed up with a heated conversation before the podium. This is apparently what they said speaking in Spanish to each other.  more...

Mark Loves Anne

By: Gladious Fermingo
Event: Great Britain
Date: 15 Jul 2008

After missing out on the opportunity in Miles I just HAD to go to Carbrook, South of Brisbane to drum up some more interest in the V8 category of underSteer. The first night Bubika and I sort of stood out as we were both standing with the other locals, but instead of holdings nooses, burning effigies, or brandishing homemade spud rocket launches, we were handing out business cards with the underSteer-tt.com/v8 url (along with Boss Hogg’s ugly mug) on it. On reflection we looked like an awkward pair of political party stooges at an Election Day polling booth. A guy called galaga who had BO and wearing a ‘Bundy Rum; Our State, Our Rum’ shirt came up to us waving a sign which read ‘PISS OFF DENIS YOU QLD PEDO’. He asked me what I was doing and I just pointed to Bubika and gave him a thumbs up. He snarled “ARE YOU A PEDO”, but I couldn’t hear what he said over all the Airbourne that was blaring out of a Ute so I just gave him the thumbs up again. When I saw another convoy of Utes turn up with their No Fat Chicks stickers and cattle dogs in their trays I wondered why that big guy was now pointing toward me. I thought it was best I left – Bubika can fend for himself. I had to catch a plane to England the next day anyway. I'm also working on an idea for a documentary revolving around Mark Webber. Mark Loves Anne is the tentative name for it. God, I am sooooo random.  more...

A lot has been said about Max Mosley and his well I don't exactly know what to call it, a lot of people call it an orgy but I'm not that comfortable imagining Max in that way and that's the real victim in this whole thing, my imagination. A wrinkly whatever-year-old do things to women with his wrinkly bits. That's not something I want to picture in my head so I looked up the videos on youtube instead. It turns out that his daliance was with 5 prostitutes (no relation to Alain) in a nazi orgy , one who I believe was married to an MI5 agent. I don't know why he needed 5, I can only assume that a group discount kicked in at that number but it isn't the most discreet of affairs, I mean he was having sex with half a country  more...

It's Time To P-A-R-T-Y

You know when you wake up from a very big night and you can’t remember anything? Well thank God for Bubika and his camera – he put the pieces together for us all. What a big weekend it was in Monaco... (BT voice) eh! Thanks to everybody who come along again to the annual underSteer Monaco party. Sorry for the late minute change in venue to the local Mormon church but Kimi just wanted too much cash as bond for his yacht. To the rude punters who couldn’t make it to our party you’ll be deducted 30 points from your next lot of points in Canada (yes Pete:stop we can and will do negative scores in underSteer). We also had a few issues with people turning up to the party where they weren’t invited (Stealthy 3:16) but apart from that it all went smoothly. Below are all the pictures from the party, and also the BANNED photo from Adrian Sutil’s hard drive which Scott Beveridge alluded to in his Monaco preview – I like!  more...

Living with Adrian, a Monaco Preview

By: Scotty Beveridge
Event: Monaco
Date: 21 May 2008

Hi Scotty, I came into the posession of a computer recently and I found some things on it that I thought might interest you. Now, being in the identity theft business that I am, I always have a keen eye out to steal personal information from high profile celebs and they don't get any bigger than Adrian Sutil. Normally I would be blackmailing him and making a bucket load, but this time I'm going to have to share the details with you rather than use if for my own personal gain, because it's just too good. How I happened upon a hard disk from one Adrian Sutil of Force India Ferrari, I can't say, but I can say this; Adrian likes Cleo, not the bird who hosted whatever show it was on channel ten... the magazine. He has a subscription to what seems to be every edition of Cleo around the world. More than that, he is an active participant. Here is one interesting email he sent to Cleo.  more...

Pole not on Pole

By: Daryl Beattie
Event: Turkey
Date: 18 May 2008

Istanbul has come about earlier than normal this year due to the fact that there isn't any motogp race their this year and it has caught me off guard. The Ferrari's have been in form taking the three previous wins after Hamilton took out the opening race in Melbourne. It has also alternated between the two ferrari drivers and Turkey would mean that Massa would be due for the win after Kimi had won in Malaysia and Spain. This trend was looking to continue after all Massa took his first win at the circuit and followed it up with another win last year. Going for his third win in a row here Massa said in the lead up that he "owned this place". It sounded like he was going to jinx himself especially since Massa isn't the most mentally strong of drivers. The above quote is what scared me and I bet on R-Kub for a podium but he did nothing. So Massa got pole and took the win but not before being scared shitless by Hamilton on a three stop strategy who was being spurred on by Mika Hakkinen in the pits leading to rumours of him ending his sabbatical. I remember Alonso beating Massa in Magny-Cours when Alonso was on a different strategy and I think it is something that Felipe struggles to deal with. He has to lead from the front and gain a certain amount of a lead before pit stops and they have to do the same amount of pit stops as him, he isn't the most exciting racer. He now has reduced the margin to Kimi to 7 points but all his favourite tracks have gone except for Brazil and that's a long way away, so he has no chance at winning the championship. I think Raikkonen and Hamilton would both need to be injured for that to happen and possibly RK-BMW.  more...

ola

Event: Spain

It's all been happening around Barcelona for the last few weeks and this has been my reason for this report being so late. I got into Barcelona early in the week to see the United v Barca champions league match before heading to the track, and what a match that was. Nah, not really. But in F1 news, there's been some interesting stories of late. Honda have made an official statement that Rubens will start a record 257th grand prix in Turkey. Some seem to think Rubens' 257th grand prix was here in Barcelona, and others think it will be in Monaco. The issue goes back to Imola in 1994, where he was injured in practice and didn't race and Spa in 1998, where he took the original start, but was injured and could not restart. There is also debate on whether Spain and France in 2002 should be included, where he had problems on the formation lap. And speaking of 2002, I would add Austria to the mix, where he had problems on the final lap, where he confused the brake and accelerator. For me, he wasn't racing there, but merely going around on a Sunday drive. Then of course there are a bunch of other team order races, that you could debate about too. There is also the dud drives he's done, which when you take those out of it, really he must have only REALLY raced in about 20 grand prix.  more...

The 2020 Summit: A look at underSteer's Future

By: Gladious Fermingo
Event: Bahrain
Date: 20 Apr 2008

Hi, I’m Gladious Fermingo. I tip in understeer and I’m going to be a columnist this year for Formula One. Arghhhh. Sorry folks, I’ve been reading too many of Mark Webber’s articles for BBC. Niiiiiple. Anyways, hasn’t there been plenty happening both on and off track in the F1 world. Max Mosley has been caught playing Cowboys and POW’s, meanwhile according to reputable reports Lewis Hamilton has a new squeeze in Danni Minogue. In underSteer news it is all very tight up the front, but I’m more interested in the dud punters we have. Berrien County Racing is our first American punter and I want to welcome him into OUR tipping comp. Wanting to generalise though, everybody from the USA has a huge ego and no doubt it is not fun for him to be running 30th. I’ll be bringing to everybody’s attention in each report I do just how ordinary Berrien County Racing is doing in the future.  more...

Pole on Pole - Bahrain Qualy

By: Scotty Beveridge
Event: Bahrain
Date: 5 Apr 2008

Surely I'm going to be the first to use the above headline. That's right Robby K is on pole. Sure he was a little bit lighter, but BMW are looking stronger and stronger each week. Massa was the man to beat for pole. All weekend he was looking well in the groove in this, one of his favourite circuits it seems. Unbelievably Massa couldn't replicate his middle sector time from his first run in his second run at pole and the result is Robby K takes pole by just under 3 hundredths of a second. The underSteer pole was shared by aa-001 and Shawster with 30 points. Well back in 2006, I predicted that this would happen at some stage in 2007, most likely at Monza, but alas I missed by 3 races... Not bad, even if I do say so myself.  more...

You Want The Best You Got The Best!

By: Daryl Beattie
Event: Australia
Date: 23 Mar 2008

Well hello all. It has been a long time since I have done a report, in fact the last one was over 7 months ago at the Italian GP. That was taken out by Alonso with Hamilton 2nd but in the end Räikkönen stole the toy they were fighting over. Alonso said that he had the chamyinship first and Ron said that he had to share with Hamilton and in the end they were sent to bed without any desserts. Since then Alonso has gone back to Renault and Kovalainen has filled the gap at McLaren. McLaren and Ferrari looked to be the two stongest teams over the off season and with testing taking place in Spain there were forecasts for a category 6 shit storm. Sure enough in early January some people came dressed as gollywogs or something with signs that said "Hamilton's family". Naturally there was an uproar over it and later it was announced that an anti-racism campaign would be launched at the Spanish GP in Barcelona where the furore was borne. One of the people who came in blackface said "that they were celebrating carnivale and it wasn't to be taken as being racist". I completely understand that because if you couldn't be in somewhere like Rio nothing says carnivale like F1 winter testing. Now I have just seen that one float in Rio was going to have a dancing Hitler on dead bodies but it was banned, so maybe they were celebrating carnivale. This whole thing makes you wonder if Adolf Warne was involved in any of these things, supposedly yes. The man in blackface went on to defend the group saying "(at least) none of us acted like we had cerebral palsy". I don't know what to say to that!  more...

Melbourne Qualy or Personality Quiz: Your Guide To Tipping - Part Deux

By: Scotty Beveridge
Event: Australia
Date: 15 Mar 2008

Welcome to Melvegas for the first round of The Show. It's as hot as Vegas too, and (drum roll please) that's just the ladies hanging out around Kimi's hotel. Daryl and Roy Rossi (aka: monkeybator, aka: The Monkey) are down on the ground getting all the info, and will do a report after the event, but I thought I would bring you up to date with the practice and qualifying sessions. Practice was weird on Friday and it looked like it was just a normal, don't read much into it session, especially when you consider that it is the first round and that the track was a bit dusty. Everyone was spinning, even Nakajima. Practice today was once again a bit mixed up and it looked like BMW decided to finally show their pace or finally got it together or got lucky. Kubica and Heidfeld were top after Saturday practice with some quickish times, but McLaren and Ferrari were crusing, just waiting for qualifying, or so everyone thought. But before I talk about that I thought I would bring you Part 2 of the "guide to tipping - which category suits you?" If you missed Part 1, it was done by Daryl in 2006.  more...

“Show me a good loser and I’ll show you a loser”
Vince Lombardi

Welcome all to the blue riband event of underSteer, Formula One. This year promises to be a cracker with the whole Kimi vs Lewis vs Fernando thang happening on the track, and a new look underSteer site which has a record amount of punters to liven things up off the track. I can’t wait! The season starts off again in Melbourne for what looks like one of the last times if Bernie E aka Andy W has anything to say about it. That’s about all the F1 news I’ll be talking about; the rest of this report will be used as a spline for me to vent my anger at the world as we know it. Anybody who has read any of my reports previously would know I only speak the truth. In this report I’ll be giving my views and a brief form guide on EVERY underSteer team who has entered the Formula 1 tipping competition this year. If you join after this report is up just check again within 48 hours as I should have had time to dissect your life and underSteer championship chances within that time frame. So in no real order here we go.  more...

The Pre-Preview

By: Scotty Beveridge
Event: Preview
Date: 5 Mar 2008

The real in-depth preview of the formula one season ahead of us is yet to come. Gladious is on the job for that one, doing a lot of research, but I thought I would get in with a pre-preview before that. The season starts in Melbourne in just over a week and there has been a lot of news from some (Hamilton) and not so much from others (Lauda).... It seems Niki, who generally likes to let everyone know his opinion on anything, only has one opinion. He reckons Ferrari are ahead of McLaren at the moment. Hamilton, who normally likes to keep pretty quiet, has been telling everyone everything about Alonso, but I won't go into it because I'm a bit of a Hamilton fan... sometimes anyway... Flavio has been in the news too, while talking with an Italian radio station, he said formula one is boring now and compared it to the San Remo Song Festival, but I don't understand how he can compare it to that.... Sure it's predictable, but who would represent the old man in the middle who gets to hang out with the luscious young ladies... ahhh actually, he might be on to something there.  more...
