Rules and Regulations
Object of the Game
underSteer is a motorsport tipping competition. The idea of the F1 competition is to pick the top 8 qualifying results and all race results for each round of the Formula One World Championship. Simply drag the drivers onto the grid in the order you expect them to qualify and race.
Scoring
In qualifying you must pick the top eight drivers. The points will be awarded as follows:
| Position | Points |
| picked exactly | 5 |
| picked within 1 place and qualified in the top eight | 3 |
| picked outside 1 place and qualified in the top eight | 1 |
| bonus driver points * | 5 |
In the race you must pick the entire field's positions and you must mark which drivers will not finish the race (DNF). The points will be awarded as follows:
| Position | DNF | Points |
| picked exactly | picked correctly (finisher) | 10 |
| picked exactly | picked correctly (non-finisher) | 8 |
| picked within 2 places | picked correctly | 6 |
| picked within 2 places | picked incorrectly | 3 |
| picked outside 2 places | picked correctly | 1 |
| bonus driver points * | 10 | |
* Each round has a bonus driver. These points will be awarded for correctly picking this driver's race position and DNF status in the race or for correctly picking this driver's qualifying position. The bonus driver for each round is listed on the Calendar page and is highlighted on the Enter Picks page.
Classification
Race order shall be determined following Articles 158-160 in the FIA's Sporting Regulations (see www.fia.com). That is, a finisher is anyone that completes 90% of race distance. Even if they do not cross the finish line under the chequered flag.
Drivers that do not complete 90% of race distance will be placed in order of number of laps completed. If more than one driver completes the same number of laps then they will be placed in the order they completed their last lap. If more than one driver completes no laps (can you say "first corner pile up") they will be placed in order of qualifying results.
If a driver does not make it to the race start (without being substituted) due to non-qualifying, disqualification, injury or mechanical failure they will be classified at the back of the grid. If more than one driver falls into this category then the order will be determined by their qualifying position initially, or else their fastest lap time in the practice and qualifying sessions up to that point if they didn't qualify. Disqualified drivers will always be classified behind all others and will be placed in entry number order.
The results will be sourced from the FIA web site.
Entering Picks
Picks must be entered before the Cut Off Time for each round. The Cut Off Times are shown in your local time as determined by your computer's settings, they are the time of the first practice session for each round. It is recommended that picks are entered earlier to avoid disappointment if there is a problem with the web server. If picks are not entered for the round then your picks from the previous round will be used automatically.
Joining Late
Punters that join after the first round will be awarded the current lowest score. This score will be credited to the punter when scores are calculated at the following round.
Driver Substitutions
If a driver is substituted for another during the race weekend then your picks will be updated to show the new driver in the position where you had the substituted driver. For example, if Christian Klien has to stand in for Nick Heidfeld due to a last minute illness then everyone's picks will be updated to show Klien in the position they had Heidfeld. If Nick Heidfeld is substituted by a driver from a different team (eg/ Sebastian Vettel) and Christian Klien substitutes for Sebastian Vettel, then everyone's picks will be updated to show Vettel in the position they had Heidfeld and Klien in the position they had Vettel.
