TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSS

By: Daryl Beattie

It seems anything happens at the Gold Coast Indy. On and off track that is with goldcoastgirls.com.au setting up a balcony on the back straight and Paul Dumbrell trying to AVOID a big accident instead of starting one, it was all happening the whole weekend and the camera of Man Daryl was there to capture it. The first time since last year's Melbourne F1 GP.

The week started in winning form for Sennamental Favourite winning back some losses on the nags by betting on Sarah Buller to take the Miss Indy title. She won unlike underSteer's Carlotta who came second last year and still maintains the rage over it. It prompted Sennamental Favourite to want to include Miss Indy in tipping after he has had a lean year in the tipping department. Still the secret to Miss Indy is Nelson Phillipe who is at every Miss Indy and is literally a swinging voter. Whatever taste Nelson wants to add to his palette for the weekend is the way it will go despite warnings from the organiser that they're not choosing a Playboy Playmate so the drivers abided by this and chose a blonde.

We arrived on Thursday afternoon and quickly headed to the track entering from the beach side of the track but once we entered Thruster and me made our tips for when we would see our first flasher. Thruster said “I don't think we'll see any I think it's too cold”. It was cool and overcast but I was thinking that last year I went half an hour and lost when it was 5 minutes. I went 5 minutes and a minute after we entered our picks I had won the bet. We caught the Porsches and headed back to the hotel and then the spa where we were joined by two old guys who asked us where we were from and then talked about why they don't go to Bathurst.

On Friday we had another spa and were joined by the old guys again. The 60 year olds once again asked us where we were from but didn't talk about Bathurst. I made a bet with Thruster that they would ask us where we were from again over the course of the weekend. It was at this stage that I realised I would have a gambling addiction if I hadn't lost all my money on betting.

A day later we were joined by Carlotta, Sennamental Favourite and The doctor but undertSteer's Austin Powers, The X Factor, was conspicuous by his absence. The doctor though was the one that made the most of the conditions with the help of tour guide Thruster. Thruster showed him titty corner and all the other sights in the sky as though they were on a safari tour. I on the other hand had a run in with a couple of fellas claiming to be from underSteer. They waisted my time as I tried to get down to titty corner for the start of the V8 race. Later on I talked to Marcus Grönholm and he said that he had the similar problem with what sounded like the same guys except one of them yelled out “Marcus! Blink ya bastard”. The day ended for the three visiting teams when the battery on The doctor's camera ran out. They topped it off by going to a strip club.

Me and Thruster on the other hand went out for a short while but the recce didn't do anything. Water balloons were bought that were originally going to be used for poker chips but Thruster said “Stuff poker lets throw them at people”. I left Thruster to his immature activities as I tried to find the Naked Wild On show on The Pay TV. Later on when I asked whether anybody was hit he told me that a man was hit but was so out of it that he kept on walking. I guess he thought he had thrown up on himself. He then told of another man who was hit and ran out, yelling and swearing at the building. He was strangely excited whenever he told this story and as he continued the story he said the man was waiting at the bus stop and Thruster thought “F##k it” and bombarded him again. Once again the man screamed in a rage in the buildings direction.

Race day and in the Champ Cars Will Power was looking good for the race win. As Dean “Deano” Jones would say he “looked 10ft tall, bullet-proof with a red cape and a number S on the front”. In the end Sebastien “Seabass” Bourdais had a lunge up the inside and damaged his front steering in a move similar to his one against Justin “Stockmarket” Wilson a round later in Mexico.

For the last V8 race of the round we jumped a waist high fence reserved for the hotel guests there, I crushed my nuts and headed around the building to the outside of the hairpin. With the fence looking as though it had been pushed forward over the course of the weekend we were maybe 1 metre from the cars as they entered the corner.

Todd Kelly won the round and Rick Kelly had his first win of the year. It helped “No Rick” in his title challenge to Clowndes after he got penalised for warming up his tyres leading up to the starting grid he was then penalised again, possibly for leading V8's, (which should make Gibernever nervous) for not letting Ingall past when Ingall was up the inside on the first corner. He said to his engineer on the radio that he let him past on the back chicane and he did his drive through behind Ingall and in front of Courtney. It would be fair to say he was annoyed. Then at Symmons Plains he had a bad round and after the first race in Bahrain he is 90 points behind Kelly. Despite the margin I still think Clowndes will win the Chamyinship.

The title fight in V8's is between the most liked driver (Lowndes) and the most hated driver (R.Kelly). Similar to underSteer really, I'll let you decide who those drivers are. At Surfers Sennamental Favourite won his first round in anything since he won the MotoGP race in Qatar back in April. Completing the podium was Gibernever and The Crome Arrow. As it stands at the moment Gibernever (who has led since the second round) is leading over Carlotta by 45 points with the Phillip Island round remaining. Now here is some photos from Indy courtesy of Man Daryl.

A Paper Clipping
I found this in the local rag earlier in the year. Who is Clive 'A' Doctor.

Out Fishing
They were fishing for drivers. But all they caught was Warnie, 11 times.
